Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized by abnormally low levels of glucose in the blood. Patients suffering from the condition may experience a number of distressing and uncomfortable symptoms, but the main danger is the insufficient flow of glucose to the brain. When this happens, the patient may go into a seizure and/or lose consciousness. In the extreme scenario, the patients may suffer permanent brain damage or even die as a result of glucose depletion.
Marijuana may cause the patient’s system to produce more insulin in response to the promise of food. For patients suffering from hypoglycemia, it might be worth discussing the benefits of marijuana with their doctor.
