Constipation is a condition wherein the patient is unable to pass stool or has considerable difficulty doing so. Patients with the condition may also be unable to have at least three bowel movements per week. Along with the difficulty involved in having a bowel moment, patients with constipation may also experience abdominal pain, a feeling of being bloated, and nausea. If the condition is left untreated, the patient may be at risk for fecal compaction or rectal prolapse.
Marijuana may help relax the bowels of patients with constipation. Apart from encouraging normal bowel movement, marijuana may also ease the pain and discomfort associated with the condition.
