AgoraphobiaAgoraphobia is the fear of large groups of people, especially in public settings. Translated literally as “fear of the marketplace”, agoraphobia can cause a variety of fear-based reactions in the patient. Agoraphobia is characterized mainly by feelings of severe anxiety, which can compel a person to avoid going out in public or meeting with groups of people. Over time, the condition may worsen to the extent that the patient stops interacting with other people altogether.

Marijuana has been known to reduce feelings of anxiety in some people. Patients with agoraphobia may be able to get relief from an impending anxiety attack by ingesting a small does of marijuana.
